art at the alden
our commitment to the arts
the alden is proud to offer its guests a prominent collection of houston art that crosses many mediums including paintings, digital installations and metal sculpture. from the striking, wall-sized fixture in the lobby to the inspiring texas art collection found throughout the hotel, the art at the alden captures the creative spirit of houston’s vibrant arts scene and fuses it with the ultra-modern style of the hotel.
the alden’s commitment to the arts creates a visual feast for guests. upon arrival, the “invitation,” a striking, wall-sized installation specifically designed for the lobby of the alden by broadway and architectural lighting designer david lander, you are immediately immersed into a world of contemporary design and taste. also in the lobby you will find austin artist kim coulter’s massive painting “wild horses” on one of the hotel lobby walls (coulter’s work can also be seen in the signature texas-themed corner suite). m.y williams, another houston artist, presents a brilliant collection of metal pieces for guests in the hotel lobby. gwen bell’s vivid oil paintings and sylvia angeli’s travel-inspired oil paintings can all be found in the new private dining room.
through our rich collection of art in houston, we hope to distinguish ourselves as the city’s foremost boutique hotel while creating a unique cultural experience for hotel guests. guests are encouraged to immerse themselves in the hotel’s digital art, traditional and mixed media painting while enjoying a premier hospitality experience in the heart beat of the city.
